Chattanooga Bass Yakkers hosting 2017 event in Alabama

The Chattanooga Bass Yakkers will again be holding a kayak fishing event on the upper part of Lake Guntersville.  As in previous years, this year’s event will be held in Stevenson, Alabama in the northeast corner of our state.

CBY is a great kayak fishing club and they often hold events and activities that support local charities and causes.  We hope anglers in Alabama will look into participating in this and other events on their trail.  Stay tuned to the CBY Facebook Group for more information.

Trail dates released for Coosa Canoe & Kayak Fishing Tournament

The dates and locations are:

March 11 – Lay Lake

Participation in these events help promote the causes of the Coosa Riverkeeper and offer a down right good time for anglers young and old.  These are family-friendly events and parents can even fish with their children (and kids get their own division to compete in).

Check the Coosa Canoe & Kayak Fishing Tournament website and Facebook pages for details, rules, and updates throughout the year.

Those that place well in Coosa Canoe & Kayak Fishing Tournament events this year will earn entry into the Alabama Kayak Fishing Classic where kayak bass fishing clubs from across Alabama will come together to crown a champion!  More details on that event can be found right here.

Kayak bass fishing clubs across the state are working together to put together a end-of-the-year event.  Many will be camping out at on the banks of the Coosa River at the Coosa Outdoor Center in Wetumpka, Alabama.

This is going to be a year-end celebration of all the good things happening in Alabama kayak fishing.  Meet other anglers.  Meet other clubs. Learn about what each club is planning to do in 2018.

This event will be open to anyone. There will be an Open Division and a Championship Division.  Each division will be eligible to win cash and prizes.

The anglers that have risen to the top of their respective club’s “angler of the year” races will gain entry into the Championship Division and the top angler in that division will be crowned the

2017 Alabama State Champion!

So, if you want to make a run for that prestigious freshwater title, find yourself a kayak fishing club in Alabama and get to participating in their tournaments.  If you work hard enough or (let’s face it) get lucky enough, you can earn a spot into the Championship Bracket.

Didn’t qualify to be state champ? No problem.  Just show up and fish the side event and have a good time on one of the most scenic rivers in the South.  There will be plenty of people fishing that river for the first time that day.  And there will be plenty of good company that will share the water with you.  Also, you’ll have a shot at catching a trophy spotted bass.

But I don’t like fishing moving water!  Ok, we have you covered too.  You will be able to launch in multiple locations that offer lake-like flatwater conditions where there are no rapids.   Look at Google Maps at locations below the Coosa Outdoor Center, Goldstar Park, and below for fishing areas that offer slight to moderate flow.

Stay tuned to this page for more information as the clubs work together to coordinate the event.  What we know:
